I understand that you are unable to open Mail on your iMac. Let's see if we can get that sorted out.
One of the first things I would start with is starting up your iMac in Safe Mode. This will clear out any caches and launch only the required kernel extensions. All you need to do is hold the Shift key until you see the Apple Logo and progress bar. Once you have logged in, try opening Mail to see if it launches.
