Q: iWatch sync

i am trying to fully sync Activity/Workout recorded on my Apple iWatch v 2.2 with my iPhone 6 (running iOS 9.3.2), but something is amiss. For example, i take a 4 mile, 65 minute walk, which records perfectly on the iWatch. When it syncs to the iPhone, it shows up as 26 minutes of exercise, short of my 30 min goal. Also, as my iPhone is new and the iWatch was already owned (and synced to another predecessor iPhone) i appear to have also lost my Activity history. Can this be retrieved? i assume it is permanently gone.

i have successfully connected the iWatch to the iPhone and they are fully functioning on other apps.

Apple Watch, watchOS 2.2

    Hi

To credit progress towards your daily Exercise goal, the Activity app aims to identify activity that equals or exceeds the intensity of a brisk walk. This applies both during general daily wear and when recording workouts via the Workout app.

It is possible that only 26 minutes of your 65 minute walk met this requirement.

The definition of a brisk walk varies from person to person and depends upon your personal information. To check that your personal information is accurate - and to update it over time:

    - On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Health > Edit - tap and adjust items, then tap on Done.

During general daily wear, the Activity app relies on arm motion (measured by the accelerometer) to track movement for the purpose of crediting Exercise progress. For the best results, allow the arm on which you are wearing your watch to swing naturally as you move around.

When recording an Outdoor Walk workout and taking your iPhone along (with Location Services enabled), your watch can also use GPS data from the iPhone to estimate your pace and distance. However, Exercise credit will still only be awarded when your activity is at least equivalent to a brisk walk.

Calibrating your watch helps to improve the accuracy of various estimations (including Exercise credit) made by the Activity app and Workout app. More information and instructions for calibrating your watch are available via the link below.

In order to retain your previous Activity history, you would have needed to restore your new iPhone from an encrypted backup of your old iPhone.

Sorry but not. That data was synced with the previous owner's Apple ID.
