Q: How make my mouse behave

Is there any way to desensitize this unruly mouse? Put a governor on it? Down shift into LOW gear?

Going to go back into my Mac tool box and (hope) get one of the old mice to use instead of this mini rat that bounces things around the screen making me nauseous. Come on Apple too much in this rodent for us with some neuromuscular difficulties. My fingers/hands sometime shake uncontrollably and things fly all over the screen. Go to point on something and I am "chasing" it  as in moves slightly off screen. I can grip like a gorilla, but the keyboard and mouse are not ropes, steering wheel or pick and shovel (No trouble there!). Tired of this mischievous mouse. The trackpad yuck!  Please try it while your hand thinks it is at the keyboard  of a piano! No sympathy needed here. Still walking on the green side of the grass at 71, and loving every day!

Have you tried adjusting the tracking speed for your Mouse in System Preferences?

Go to the Apple Menu > System Preferences > Mouse and adjust the slider for tracking speed towards slow and see if this helps.

Hello and thanks for you reply!

Yes I have. I disabled the double tap and swiping etc. Situation no better. Still think something is systemically wrong with this CPU. New logic board did not fix all issues.  Got worse for a while after the fix. Still does strange thins at times like quitting in middle of my creating an email etc. Been back and forth to local Apple Store at the dreaded MALL, so many times in last month plus, I asked if I could sleep over.

Should have just stayed with my old slow G5.

    Hello and thanks!

I've done this over and over again. Back and forth to Apple Store. New logic board...better but "no worries", oh yes I do. They are well meaning but when there might be more wrong with this new CPU than meets the eye. Have spoken with several others who are having many issues as well. They do not connect on line at all.  Thanks again.

Have you tried restarting your Mac in Safe mode:

    - Shut down your Mac

    - Wait until your computer turns off and after that press the Power button

    - Right after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the Shift key

    - Release the Shift key when you see a grey Apple sign and the progress bar below this sign

    - Once you see Desktop, start a Disk Utility scan to detect and repair file system errors (don't forget to choose your main hard drive)

    - Click on Verify Disk and then, if asked to fix problems, on Repair Disk

    - After this, click on Verify Disk Permissions and then on Repair Disk Permissions

    - After the process is finished, shut down your Mac and turn it back on after about 30 seconds

If you have another mouse, which you seemed to indicate you do, try using it as a test. That could help isolate whether it is a mouse problem or a computer/software problem. In addition to trying the Safe Mode, try creating another admin user account to see if the problem is there. This will check to see if it is a system wide problem or not.

infrared mice sometimes behave very erratically on a reflective surfaces. Try using a mouse pad if you have one, or even the back of a hardcover book with a cloth or non-reflective surface.

    Hi Jimmy and thanks!

    Have a mouse pad.

Even shut off trackpad finger controls. Mouse just too sensitive to slightest touch. Just exacerbated by problems with the fine motor skills that I have. I think "it" knows that I do not like computers. I am a book reader. Hate reading on screen.

Best and thanks so very much for your response.
