None of my videos taken on my iPhone in the year since I got it have migrated to my iPhoto. All the photos are there, however. Also, all the videos taken on my previous phone, a Samsung are there as well. I have searched everywhere an cannot find them. I also created a smart album for movies, in which it only shows the videos from my Samsung as well. Any help?

How are you transferring the photos and videos from your iPhone to your Mac?

if you are using My Photo Stream, only the photos will be transferred. My Photo Stream does not transfer the videos. To transfer the videos connect the iPhone to a USB port and launch iPhoto. Then select the videos in the Import panel and download them to your iPhoto Library.

Ok, I was hoping iCloud would do that for me like it did on my Samsung. Ok, I will try that! Thank you.

Do the videos show in the Import panel at all?  Or do they  show as "already imported"?

they don't show at all. at the top of the screen, it just says 'catherine's iPhone' 5/9/16-5/24/16 and shows the 4 videos i have taken in that timeframe. i tried clicking on the date to open up the timeframe, but it does not give me that option.

What are the iCloud Settings on your iPhone.  Do you have iCloud Photo Library enabled or only My Photo Stream?

With iCloud Photo Library enabled many videos and Photos may not be showing in the Import panel.  In that case download the videos from your iCloud Webpage at www.icloud.com.  Open the Photos.app there and download missing items.

Yes, I have iCloud photo library enabled. Is it better to just have My Photostream enabled?

    Thank you SO much!

Yes, I have iCloud photo library enabled. Is it better to just have My Photostream enabled?

That depends on what you want to use.

    • My Photo stream is streaming all new photos from your iPhone to your Mac, but not the videos.
    • iCloud Photo Library is a syncing service. For all devices it using iCloud Photo Library it will upload all photos and videos in your Photos Library to iCloud and make all libraries identical.  If your Photos Library is large, the free 5GB iCloud Storage will not suffice, and you will need a paid iCloud subscription for more storage.

Since the videos are not on your Mac, I take it, you enable iCloud Photo Library on your iPhone, and used the "Optimize storage" option. Then most of your videos and photos are now in iCloud and your iPhone has only smaller, lightweight versions. Don't disable iCloud Photo Library now, if the videos and Photos in iCloud may not fit on your iPhone.

What is the situation on your Mac?

Your profile signature in the original post says " OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)"?  Then your Mac cannot sync with iCloud Photo Library. For that you would need OS X 10.10.3 or newer and the Photos for Mac application.

Try to download your videos from www.icloud,com. Open the Photos.app there.

Once your videos are safely on your Mac, check the storage on your iPhone, if you can risk to disable "Optimize Storage" on the iPhone or not.  You can only disable iCloud Photo Library and Optimize Storage on the iPhone,if all photos and videos currently in iCloud will fit on your iPhone.
