Q: Predictive text disabled after last update 9.3.2

I don't know if it's a coincidence, a bug or a feature but predictive text was turned off and I'm sure that i didn't disable it in settings. Has this happened to anyone else and is there an explanation?

iPhone 6s Plus, Windows 10

Have you checked your settings? (SETTINGS/GENERAL/KEYBOARDS....scroll down to see if Predictive Spelling is turned on). If that doesn't do it, try a reset (hold sleep and home button until white apple logo appears then release).

Do you have the following icon on your keyboard? Press and hold on this and you will see the option to toggle Predictive text back on.

This icon turns it on and off for the app you're in. System-wide switch is in Settings.

That might have been the case in previous updates, but your suggestion peaked my curiosity so I double checked. After disabling the setting through Settings>General>Keyboard, I opened Facebook Messenger, Apple Messages, and Safari to see that it was recognized as being turned off. I could then use the globe to toggle it on from any app and see that it was now enabled in all other apps.

    Pretty convenient shortcut

With all due respect, folks, some of you didn't read for the question for comprehension  before responding. I know how to turn on and off the feature in settings. I know how to collapse the suggestion box. My question is how did it get turned off without my input and whether this happened with the last update and whether anyone else has reported it.Thanks to all who responded regardless, i appreciate the input.

It seems we misheard you since you made no indication that you knew how to enable it again once it had been disabled. I am glad to see this issue has not plagued you further, but without the full context of the situation we can only assume.

Regarding the how and the why, these things sometimes happen with software updates. In a past update dating back a few years ago, my Cellular Data toggle was switched off after the update had completed. This was not something that everyone experienced who updated. Patches can be like that.

The worst case scenarios are when the patch doesn't fit quite right with what is sitting on your device, and your phone is forced to need a full restore to resolve it. This is why it is recommended so frequently to backup your devices prior to running updates.

I hope this has now answered your original question.
