Q: Add Printer When No Internet Access?
I have a bright shiny new MBP. I also have an HP CP6x (something). I want to add it so I can print. However, I have no Internet access when I have access to the printer. Drivers are available from Apple but not present on the MBP; needs to download them. Thus the catch22. Does this mean that I cannot add a printer when I have no Internet access? Apple REQUIRES Internet access to set up a printer?

Wow. How am I connecting to this site? Oh, I don't know, maybe via a different computer!
Greg; really? Thank you but INTERNET access is absent; not network access! The post clearly states no internet access. In other words, I was seeking advice on the problem I expressed; not the no internet access.
But to help imaginations work a bit better; envision a room where electronics, once introduced cannot be altered or removed. Then envision the same secured environment having no internet access. Add to that, having experience with macs that have always had the drivers already present.
So the answer is .... No, one cannot add a printer. Apple does force you to have access to the internet to add a printer. Direct access, via third party access (download outside security and through act of God bring a drive inside), or pre loss of access (during setup).
I'll look to the act of God solution.
Wow.
