Q: I can't login into my device using my apple ID, but..

So, I'm an iphone5s (64gb) user and just recently updated my OS to 9.3.2.

After i updated my OS I realized that I've been logged out from the appstore.

And then I tried to log in only to get notice that my apple id or password is incorrect.

Thinking I may be forgetting my password, I go to appleid.com to reset it and it works just fine.

I can login to 1. appleid.com 2. iTunes on my PC

But I can't login to my device.

The thing is, I've called the support center for 4 times now. And I've followed their instructions (reset settings and tried to login to itunes and appstore through the setting countless times) except one, that is to restore my phone.

I'm still a bit in doubt for losing all my chats because I tend to forgetting things.

So, I tried to asked my friend to login to her phone (ip6) using my id. And it works.

I also asked her to login with her apple id in my device. Again it works.

The guy in the support center told me that there may be a problem when I installed my OS, however if there is really a problem, is it possible for it to deny only a certain apple id?

How is it possible that I can login using my friend's id but not mine in my own device?

I really really don't want to restore my phone and I don't know what to do now. I'm tired of calling because I kept repeating over and over the same instruction they gave to me.

If I choose to wait for the next OS to update the phone, will it be okay? So I don't need to restore my phone.

If anyone can give me a solution I will be really really thankful.

(also, I don't know if I posted this in the right section...)

It may be once your friend signed in to the App Store on your phone, you become locked out of signing in with your Apple ID for 90 days. Are you getting any messages when you try?

Hello, thanks for your reply but this (I can't login thing) happened before I tried to signed in with my friend's phone.

And if I check my device status in appleid.com, my device is still listed there.

There is no messages when I tried login from settings-iTunes and app store

but when I logged in directly from app store it said the id or password incorrect.

I've tried to be really careful in typing each alphabets and numbers and still doesn't work...

This suggestion may come off poorly, but trust me on this one...

If you don't already use one, I would suggest a password protection app like 1password where you can keep all of your passwords, tap/copy the needed password for the given site or app, and then simply paste it in the field.

There is also the newest option directly from Apple through the Notes app, where you can lock a given note with a password to protect the viewing of its contents.

Keep your notes secure with password-protection - Apple Support

Essentially, copy the password, paste it in the field on the site and see that it works. Then follow this by doing the same within Settings. You should be golden unless this is an act of the Sasquatch.

Hello, so thank you for your reply

and I just did what you said about the copy paste thing. Still doesn't work.

And I'm replying from my 5s just typing my id and password to login using my phone and I made no mistake about it ....

Okay then if it worked when you copied and pasted your password at id.apple.com to login on your iPhone through Safari, but failed when you used the same paste in Settings, it sounds like restoring will be your final option here.

Just to make certain, your password doesn't include any spaces does it?

Make certain you are not using any spaces when you create your password. I've been told it accepts the space key when creating, but will ignore it when entered for use.

Oh by all means! I'm not here to force your hand on this. I was merely suggesting options that may lead to a speedy resolution. You've attempted the options which are the least intrusive, and now all that is left is the final option of a full restore.  That step is entirely up to you.

    ---

Because I do not want you to get tired and frustrated with this issue later in case it is not resolved by a future update for you, you may also consider the following options...

Create a backup How to back up your devices using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support

Restore your iPhone as New Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support

Test to see if the issue persists - Reasons for doing these? Backup is always a good idea, and you can restore from this backup if the issue persists even after restoring your iPhone as new.

If it DOES continue when restored as new...

Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support

Ask for a Senior Advisor in Account Security. They will likely need to gather a few logs and send a ticket to Engineering about your specific instance which will likely include some work that will need to be done on the server end or by guiding you through some advanced steps on your iPhone that they will not provide unless authorized by Engineering to continue with.

Your issue is specific to your Account/iPhone. This may not be related to the software at all, so it's best to isolate as much as possible.

All decisions are yours to make on how to move forward with this. I only offer suggestions should they peak your curiosity at a time you feel ready to proceed.

I'm sorry to jump in now, but I find the above very confusing as to what you can & can not do.  If English is not your native language, then don't take what I'm about to say the wrong way.  I just want to understand to help you.  As I understand it,

    1. You changed your Apple ID password.

    2. So now, you can log into the App Store.

    3. But you can not sign into your iPhone 5s.

    Is that correct?

Are you the ORIGINAL owner of the iPhone?  If not, you may have run into activation lock:

Turn off Find My iPhone Activation Lock - Apple Support

If I misunderstood, again I apologize.  But what am I not following?

Hello. Thank you for your reply and sorry if its confusing (I've been thinking whether my post can be understood or not because yes English is not my native language)

and Yes I changed my apple ID password

I can login to appleid.com and the iTunes on my PC

but I can't login to the appstore and itunes in my device

and yes I'm the original owner of this phone but this happened since two days ago.

THe thing is. I can login using my friend's id in my phone. So it seems like it just reject my id exclusively ...

I tried that to see whether it will reject any id or just mine. That's why its a bit confusing for me...

Once again, what you are describing sounds very much like this...

Once Apple ID A signs out of iTunes on a device, and Apple ID B signs in... Apple ID A is barred from signing in to the same device for 90 days. If you phone Apple Support, they should be able to validate this for you. If this isn't the issue, they can possibly identify what the issue is.

Yes, it is rejecting your id exclusively. And this is probably why. It's an anti-piracy measure in place to prevent a group of users from handing their devices around a group, signing in and out of Apple ID's to download and share content.

This becomes relevant if the said ID is used to download content from that account. Afterwards, if the user were to sign back into another account, which they can, they will not be allowed to download past purchases for 90 days. They can still sign in and make new purchases, but the entire purpose of this restriction was meant to eliminate sharing purchased content by signing into multiple IDs one after the other. It was introduced in the same week they started allowing users to view and redownload their past music purchases.

I have seen this behaviour where a user could not even sign in within the 90 day cooling off.

Take the suggestion for what it's worth. So far nothing else has been fruitful either.
