May 25, 2016 5:59 PM in response to carolefromwilsonvilleby Laureen,★HelpfulMY update is also stalling. I've turned the computer on and off multiple times, but nothing works. Tried to start in "safe mode", but that doesn't work either. Anyone with another suggestion?

My update seems to be stuck installing. Any way to stop it and try again?
Is it stuck in downloading - or stuck after the install starts.

May 26, 2016 2:56 PM in response to Laureenby Laureen,So, after turning off the computer overnight (and I mean unplugging it), I restarted this morning. Again got the white screen with the download stuck about 1/2 way across the line. Turned it off, tried to start in "safe mode", no dice. Then did the old "Control, Alt, Delete" 3 finger salute, went away for about 2 hours, came back, and lo and behold was able to sign in. After I signed in, it said it had 6 minutes to go to install the update. That went fine, then it restarted and now everything is fine :-)

May 26, 2016 3:24 PM in response to carolefromwilsonvilleby dfordyc2,The 10.11.5 update froze at 660MB... the mouse also froze: it would not move and would not click.
<control><opt><esc> had no effect.
Holding down <power> button for over 5 seconds seemed to unfreeze it and the computer powered off.
After pressing <power> again, I was prompted with the option to return to where I was.
Selecting that option, the download appeared to be completed as <restart> was the only update option available.
After the restart, 10.11.5 appeared to be installed.
I don't remember an update doing this before. Is this an update bug?

May 26, 2016 3:32 PM in response to dfordyc2by dfordyc2,Doesn't power cycling before the download/update completes cleanly risk trashing the update?
But since the computer was completely frozen, there seemed to be no other option...
