May 27, 2016 5:30 AM in response to Jija_by Meg St._Clair,Try examining the charging port under a good light with a magnifier. Remove, with something non-conductive, any accumulated pocket lint or other debris you may find there. Try again.

May 27, 2016 6:24 AM in response to Jija_by elcpu,If cleaning the charging port does not resolve the issue, try a Forced Restart. Hold down the Home and Wake/Sleep buttons at the same time for about 15-20 seconds until the Apple logo appears. You will not lose anything.
If a forced restart does not help try a System Restore. First backup your device using iTunes. Also import your photos to your computer and copy all important data. Try restoring from backup first and testing it. If it does not help, you may have to restore as New and reconfigure from scratch as the backup could be corrupted. For this reason it is important to have your photos and data saved separately from the backup. Here are the steps for a Restore:

If the above steps do not help, you may have to have it tested at an Apple Store.

May 27, 2016 12:01 PM in response to Jija_by dariofrombrunswick,I would check in the charging port to see if there is any lint blocking the connectors. Try swapping authentic lightning connectors, restart the computer and your device as well. If you're still not getting power, you can contact apple care http://www.apple.com/contact/ or I would contact your local Apple Store and schedule a Genius Bar appointment to have your device first inspected, then diagnosed https://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/?cid=acs::applesearch
