May 27, 2016 8:00 AM in response to alfromtnby LarryHN,Because you have migrated from iPhoto to Photos?
We can not see you so unless you provide details we can only make guesses
If that is the correct guess then do not worry about it - it takes very little additional space (Photos saves disk space by sharing images with your iPhoto or Aperture libraries - Apple Support) and you might need the old one in the future
You can delete either one since hey are totally independent adn deleting one has no effect on the other but is it best to keep both for at least three months

May 27, 2016 9:04 AM in response to alfromtnby léonie,One of the reasons why you may want to still be able to run iPhoto and open your iPhoto library after the migration to Photos is that Photos cannot migrate all content losslessly. For example your projects like book, calendars, slideshows cannot be exactly replicated in Photos. Not all metadata will be visible. You can open the old iPhoto Library and the Photos Library at the same time, one in Photos and one in iPhoto and compare.
