Photos for MacThe DVD drive may be dirty. Go to your local office supply store and get a CD/DVD cleaning kit and try using that. Considering iMacs with DVD drives have not been make for over 5 years, yours also just may be worn out.

Thanks, I'll pick up a dvd cleaner and try that. Would you think if the drive is "processing" and trying to read the disc that it might just be really dirty, or could it also be malfunctioning while still spinning?
