Q: I'm trying to update an app and it says my apple ID has been bought by another user or refunded.

Hi there,

I need to update and app on my MacBook Pro, it tells me my apple ID has either been bought by another user or the item was refunded or cancelled. Does this mean my apple ID has been compromised? I'm not sure what it means.

No, it’s not saying your Apple ID was bought by another user. It’s saying the app you are trying to update was, or was cancelled or refunded. Are you sure the Apple ID you are using now is the same one that was used to purchase the app originally? Having multiple Apple IDs can cause this very issue.

I bought this Mac From a seller on Amazon, I never bought this app I thought it was just normally installed onto the computer. Its the iPhoto app.

Okay, the iPhoto app is no longer supported by Apple. It has been replaced by a new app called simply Photos. If you are running OS X 10.11.5 as you indicate then the new Photos app is already installed and ready to use.
