Q: iPhone 6 passcode suddenly NOT working

I was using my iPhone 6.  I went to use finger print recognition and nothing happened.  So I went to enter my passcode and it wouldn't work!  I haven't changed it all either.  SO this is very odd.  The only choice I have is to do a factory restore.  I hope this doesn't happen again.  Anyone else experiencing this with the new Iphone 6?

I've just unpacked a brand new shrinkwrapped iPhone 6+s, going through initial setup, put in passcode, put it in again to verify, phone resets and is now locked, not accepting the passcode I did 30 seconds before. Definitely not a user error. Seems there's some bad stuff lurking in latest builds. At least I haven't lost anything but the setup is now taking many times longer than normal :-(

I am having the same problem with my iPad running on iOS 9.2. The passcode (6-digits) I've been using for months now just suddenly stopped working.

This happened to me TODAY on the 6s that I got a week ago (never dropped, not damaged in any way, etc). It was working perfectly fine this morning!  I will lose several important videos (kid activities, anniversary party, etc)  and other important documents that I added since my last full backup. I am a huge fan of Apple products but this is terrible. Truly awful. The phone is a little over a week old. And the customer support is similarly awful on this issue. Apple's only support idea is to basically do a full restore and lose everything without a chance of backing up the data I want to keep which is just beyond the BROKEN passcode login!!!

I know this is an old thread but thought I'd post about my experience too in case it's of relevance to anyone else that encounters this.

I just had the same thing happen to me on my iPhone 6 running iOS 9.3.2. I updated my passcode, and was using it without any apparent problems -  and then it suddenly stopped being accepted. In case it has any bearing - I was travelling overseas at the time, so was using global roaming. I waited until I got home to my Mac that I usually sync with in the hope that perhaps that, or being connected to my usual domestic carrier or home WiFi would somehow help but unfortunately it didn't. I only use a couple of different passcodes that I cycle between and tried all of them, but no luck there either. iCloud was of no help as I hadn't been connected to WiFi nor had access to mobile data while travelling. My only option was to restore from the backup I had made before going overseas - lost all my travel photos, very disappointing

This looks like a long standing issue with Apple iPhone and it just happened to me this morning. So lame Apple a bug that has been kicking around for almost 2 years. Particularly in relation with iPhone 6 and above (Touch related) I have the same os on my iPad never had any issues.

If this happen make sure you have a computer with iTunes installed (Not sure if this works only with MBP I haven't tried this on windows). Just connect the iPhone to your computer and iPhone will start accepting your passcode again.

Until Apple fixes this issue make sure you have a full back up iCloud so you can restore your phone without a machine in case this happens.

Same thing happened to me when I updated my phone. I thought my fingers had slipped, but I knew the passcode I typed!! So then I went and restored the iPhone through iTunes. And they made me enter a new passcode. Which I did. And I know exactly what I entered. And when my phone was done restoring, it asked me to enter my new passcode. Which I did. And it's still not working!!! The new passcode isn't working!! I am livid. Touch ID won't work since I restarted my phone and it always needs the passcode after a restart. I need my phone. Why is this happening???

This is new. Do a restore and keep it without a passcode for a while until someone can help you with this problem.

I turned my iPhone off for the evening.  In turning it on, my finger print code worked but it brought me to the number code window and I could not get past the number code, which doesn't work.   So my iPhone is locked up and not accessible.

I woke up on Saturday Oct 1, 2016 to my iPhone 6 Plus doing this exact thing.  It would not let me enter my own phone with the only passcode I ever used.  After researching online, I reset the phone to be able to use the phone again.  The phone was connected to my MBP over night and backed up to the cloud.  I tried to restore using that image but it seemed the most recent image had the same problem.  It took several attempts to figure this out but I finally got my phone working about 12 hours after I first noticed it.

Less than 24 hours later the passcode stopped working again.  This time it happened as I tried to make a backup in my iTunes account on my MBP.

Apple, why has this issue not been addressed.  My guess is it has something to do with iTunes but I do not know. If I have to reset my phone daily for it to work, it is not worth having the phone.

Please advise as I am at the point where I need to get a new phone and for the first time in 10 years, I am considering an Android or other OS phone.

    Thank you

Scared the shitnitz out of me as there is alot of important stuff on our phones man !!! i thought i got hacked or something and all the bad thoughts.

    I fixed mine.

I rebuilt it from an iTunes backup.

But I had to erase all my local backups because the first time I rebuilt it, it just reloaded the error.

    I hope this helps.
