May 27, 2016 5:06 PM in response to macprsby Diana.McCall,It looks like you're not getting the full speed from the iTunes servers. Are you using the provider's DNS, or are you doing something clever (OpenDNS, Google, etc.)? I assume you're not using a VPN.

May 27, 2016 6:32 PM in response to macprsby vazandrew,What is your current connect via speedtest.net ?

May 28, 2016 3:42 AM in response to macprsby Diana.McCall,You can install Speedtest on the ATV 4 and check the speed right to the ATV.
What is your nerwork configuration? Is there a single router, or do you have multiple routers and switches? There may be some bottleneck on your side of the internet conmection.

May 29, 2016 5:39 PM in response to Diana.McCallby macprs,Checked net connection speed with both Speediest and Speakeasy - both report download speeds just under 45 Mbps. Oddly enough, when I run the ATV4 speed test app, it shows less than 1/2 Mbps. This is very odd, since all other devices connected to that switch also show close to 45 Mbps.

May 30, 2016 9:19 AM in response to macprsby Diana.McCall,So, the conclusion so far is that ATV is not gettig the full bandwidth, and not only from iTunes. Can you try WiFi, just to see if it makes a difference? Can you try going direct to the router, bypassing the switch?

May 31, 2016 7:38 AM in response to macprsby Lost in Asia,For what it's worth I've found those speeds to be incredibly inconsistent. Sometimes movies that I "own", and am streaming from iTunes, will start in 30 seconds - and other times it tells me it'll take 3-4 hours or more. I'm not sure if this is because I live in an apartment building and sometimes the internet "pipes" coming into the building are clogged - this is what people have told me, but I'm not sure if the technology works that way.
Do the speeds ever work well for you, or are they always painfully slow?

May 31, 2016 4:27 PM in response to macprsby macprs,Just to clarify... only iTunes content (purchased TV/Movies) exhibit this problem. Other AppleTV4 apps (such as HBO Now) never have this problem.

May 31, 2016 4:40 PM in response to macprsby vazandrew,Those other apps adapt to the connection. ITunes is fixed rate, higher quality, and needs to load a portion before playback begins.
