Q: apple tv won't give me an opportunity to input access code

I haven't used my apple tv for a while, and restarted it. It is asking for my apple id and password. I supply them but it doesn't ask for a verification code which is sent to my computer and keeps saying I've failed. I am not given an opportunity to input the access code. Why?

Mac mini (Late 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

I wasn't aware a computer could be used as a trusted device.

What version ATV do you have, see Identify your Apple TV model - Apple Support?
Try restarting ATV.
You may have to temporarily disable verification in order to complete the login.
