Q: Siri doesn't work on my phone, the microphone doesn't pick up my voice

HHey every time I go to set up 'hey Siri' I say hey Siri and it doesn't pick up my voice. I know it's not a problem with my microphone because I always talk with people on my phone and I tried to set it up through a headset mic and it still doesn't work does anybody know why?

Try a Reset: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. -- Note: No Data will be lost

Yep, done that too. Tried a reset a few times tried closing all my background apps tried shouting into the microphone and talking softly nothing all round. It's really frustrating me because I call people all the time and the microphone works but seems to be dead when I try activate 'hey siri' also my keyboard dictation doesn't seem to work either.

    Hi

Did you try it with a headset?

What happens when you connect the phone with the power connector?

Is Siri working when you pressing the home key?

Just checking to make sure you have Siri turned on in settings - general - Siri.

I Tried it with a headset a few times and I got it to work once, but once only it was quite dodgy after that even with the headset on it wouldn't pick up me saying 'hey Siri' and yes I was connected to power. When I press the home key Siri still doesn't work either.

And yes Siri is 100 percent on it is the 'hey Siri' feature that when I turn on doesn't work and I don't know why because when I call people my microphone works fine.

There are three mics on an iPhone.

Because one works doesn't mean all 3 work.

Siri and dictation use the front mic.

    iPhone

There is more than one microphone on your iPhone.

To test the primary microphone on the bottom of your iPhone, open Voice Memos and tap the record icon. Then speak into the microphone and tap the play icon to play back the recording. You should be able to hear your voice clearly.

If your voice sounds faint when you’re using the speakerphone on a phone call, make sure that your iPhone receiver isn’t blocked or covered.

Test the front mic by taking a front facing video.  See if the sound is mute.

Test the rear mic by taking a rear facing video.

    Hi

make a Backup of this iPhone (via iTunes) and reset it to factory settings. Then try it again with an emtpy iPhone and no personal configurations. If this won't work, unfortunately you have to call the hotline or visit an Apple store (with appointment).

(You can restore the iPhone completely with the iTunes-backup.)

Hey so I did what you said and both the rear mic and the primary mic worked but the front mic was mute in the video indicating it doesn't work. So I have a question where do I go from here?
