Q: iPhone iOS 9.3.2. Microphone not working in some apps.

Mic on iPhone 5 has stopped working.  Software not Hardware.  First noticed when other party could not hear me on a phone call.  Incoming or Outgoing calls - hear the other party but they can't hear me.  Also Voice Memo doesn't work.. doesn't detect any sound.  Both calls and voice memo work when headphone mic inserted.   HOWEVER Siri and Voice Control work fine without headphones.  So Mic is working = not hardware.

I have reset all settings - turned off an on - there is plenty of free space  etc etc.  Wanted to ask this forum for ideas before full data reset.  I see that there have been issues with iOS updates.  Not sure on issue timing as phone is being used by my 12yo son.

Any suggestions appreciated.

    Hi Donbisset,

I encountered the same issue on my iPhone 5C. Shortly after I updated the IPhone to IOS 9.3.2 (latest update). I went to Apple Store, where they mentioned there is nothing they could do. Other then replace phone for a refurbished model. ( $ 350 not including tax). I decided to go to a cell phone repair shop. The owner told me that he tried 5 different charger / microphone components on my iPhone 5C (replacement bottom panel IPhone) None of them solved the issue. The owner of the store told me it was probably caused by the software update. Best scenario; Apple will soon come with a fix update for this issue. Worst scenario, upgrade your iPhone. That's what I decided to do. What's the point of having a smart phone if it's unable to perform its most basic function. Make and receive phone calls. Sorry I wasn't able to provide you with a more positive solution.
