Q: Wi-Fi authorization lock

Hello Apple eaters,

I am running Macbook Pro - Yosemite 10.10.5.

I have set Sys Preferences/Network/Advanced to require admin authorization but no prompt appears and Wi-Fi can freely be turned on and off from the menu bar and Network pane. Can anyone assist as to what is wrong? ...or a fix?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

    Hi,

    It's working here.

Make sure you have a network name selected under:  Preferred Networks then select Turn Wi-Fi on or off then click OK.

Yes, by you because you are the administrator. If you have locked the System Preferences then anyone trying to use them will need to enter your Admin password in order to make any changes to protected items.

Thank you, but my point at issue may not have been succinct...

My System Preferences are locked, yet get no pop-up GCE requiring password authorization when attempting to turn on/off Wi-FI by way of the Menu bar nor when turning on/off via the GCE @ System/Preferences/Network-"Status:"

... maybe somewhat insignificant but my eyes are peeled having been compromised recently, so I find it to be bit rompicazzo because I am trying to lock up my software and hardware.
