Q: Movies in modified aspect ratios

I recently purchased 2 "widescreen" movies from iTunes only to find that they had been cut off on the sides and enlarged.

APple had to be aware of this issue, should'nt we expect to get movies as their makers intended?

i Thought this hacking thing went out with VCRs years ago and now I find that Appke is allowing it to happen!

WHat a shame.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10)

Apple is selling whatever the movie distributors provide.

Some movies are offered in different definitions and aspect ratios. Sometimes they're in the same download, but not usually.

First confirm that you bought/downloaded the wide screen version. Then confirm that you TV set is not changing the ratio based on its settings.

Thank you for your kind reply.

in my opinion Apple should only sell unmodified movies in the aspect ratio that their makers intended.

it would be helpful if Apple at least proviided the aspect ratio in iTunes and not just the vague term "widescreen".

iTunes can get the correct aspect ratio as easily as we can in the IMDB so I don't see why they can't post it in the description.

I Have high regards for Apple and their products and I hope they will insist that the studios provide only unmolested movies!
