Q: Disabling pop ups from exiting you out of a full screen?

Basically the question. What I mean by pop ups is when I receive a call or plug my phone up to my computer for a charge, it exits me out of whatever i have on fullscreen and open photos and and iTunes. Another issue, I have is texts and calls, more specifically calls. I'll be playing a game or watching youtube videos on Safari fullscreen. Next thing I know, I get a phone call lose my hearing for 2 seconds and get the notification that someone is calling me. Now, don't get me wrong I really think that the notification system is nice, but if it is so easy to make it texts non-intrusive why can't the same be applied to receiving calls. What I mean by non-intrusive is for it to pop up like a text without exiting what ever you are doing.

So that why I'm here, is there a way to keep it from messing with what I'm doing fullscreen? Also when I plug my phone up to my computer for it not to open photos and iTunes.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

Have you tried changing the Notification settings for FaceTime? You can set it to None, but then you wouldn't get the notifications. There is also a checkbox for playing sound. Disabling that might resolve the loss of audio.

You could also just turn on Do Not Disturb while watching a movie.

For iTunes, you would have to disable it's automatic response to connected devices as that triggers iTunes to take focus.

There are 2 "issues" here to discuss:

When you connect an iDevice the Photos.app is immediately interfering because it think it has to import photos: you can prevent that (although Photos is irritatingly stubborn) by opening ImageCapture app (in Applications) and left below after "connecting this iPhone opens:"  choosing "No application". See screen shot 1.

Also when you connect your iPhone to iTunes look in the summary page on iTunes: deselect this iPhone syncs via WiFi (see screen shot 2), so that you have to connect with the cable to make contact with iTunes (the syncing of calendar, contacts, notes will still go via iCloud without alerting any app), that means if you don't want to be disturbed, you don't connect the cable.

Of course you also can change the Notifications as well (but not instead of...)

In addition to what you said about Image Capture, there is a setting in Photos itself:

Maybe the "stubbornness" comes from having this box checked, despite what you had set in Image Capture.

I did both actions (selecting No Application" in Image Capture, and unchecking that box in Photos) and I can connect the iPhone without Photos launching.

Notifications like those for a phone call or text message should not get you out of fullscreen mode unless you actually click on them.

As for iTunes and Photos you already have answers on how to not having them activate.

Hi Luis, Yes good to think of that.

I have it unchecked, because I don't use Photos at all...

But still Photos pops up once in awhile..
