Q: After update my 2016 MacBook no longer sees my (wifi) Canon MG7120 printer.

Has the newest update for El Capitan affected the printer connectivity function for a 2016 MacBook Pro?  Before the update I could print to the Canon MG7120 without issue.

There are no known issues with the 10.11.5 update affecting the connection to a Canon MG or MX series device. No driver update is needed from 10.11.4 to 10.11.5 and a reset of the printing system is overkill at this stage.

Whatever caused your issue most likely has more to do with the setup of your Mac. A simple action is to open Printers & Scanners and remove the current MG7120 printer. Then click the plus button to add the printer again. It should appear in the Default view of the Add printer window. If it does not appear then it indicates an issue with the network connection between the Mac and the printer - and the reason why you could not print.

If you are using WiFi then check via the MG touch panel that you still have a connection to your wireless router (aka access point). If you can see the IPv4 address the MG is using then enter that into a web browser as the URL. If there is a working connection between the Mac and the Canon then it should result in you connecting to the internal web page of the printer. Does this work?
