Q: Battery problem after update to IOS 9.3.1

I updated my Iphone 5 to IOS 9.3.1 about a week ago, whereafter the battery drained within 3-4 hours. I thought that the battery finally packed up and ordered a new one !

The problem still exists, now the battery lasts max. 5 hours.

Any solution apart from switching off many of the standard features ?

iPhone 5, iOS 9.3.1, null

Yes I agreee. It's been one of the most frustating things with the battery issue. They problably get cheap China made batteries. Extremely unprofessional of Apple and not helping consumers. For that reason I'm done with Iphone and Apple's deficient and terrible products. GOOD BYE APPLE!!!

Same problem here. iPhone 5, after update to 9.3.1 (update screen was nagging all the time).  Battery status fails to update, hangs at 8% phone switches off randomly. Tried 3 times DFU, did even crash at the welcome screen. Brought it to genius bar, "they never heard of the problem, must be an software issue", they did an DFU and installed most recent 9.3.2.  I configured everything as new iPhone. Phone worked for 12hours, then it went off (battery was empty), and since then, the same crap again. Thanks, Apple, for breaking my perfectly working iPhone.

You may want to take the time to read this thread to see if any of the suggestions work for you.  Or - call Apple and get their support directly - you will not get it in this forum - this is user-to-user.

Hello, has anyone solved this problem yet? I have updated to iOS 9.3.2 less than a week ago and the problem is still there, my iPhone 6 overheats after 2 or 3 minutes of use (simplest apps as messages whatsapp safari etc) and the battery drains very fast, while before it made a 7/8 hrs usage, now it dies within max 4 hrs!

No problems since I made these changes a few weeks ago.

Settings>Phone>Calls on Other Devices>Allow calls on

Turned off Make calls on Mac.  I was able to leave the other IPhone on and no drain detected.

Yeah, I've tried that amogst other suggestion you've all made in this post, but nothing worked for me :/ I guess I'll just wait for a new update hoping they will solve this bug, in the meantime just forget about my phone!

    Hi,

its most probably a hardware issue , you need to replace U2 IC which actually hold charge and can gets faulty by using unauthorised chargers specially car chargers.

i had the same problem did everything people suggested but solved it by replacing U2 IC now my phone is back to business

    Thanks

I only use original cables, and it doesn't seem like a hardware problem.

I've been looking around for solutions ad someone suggested to switch off wifi-assist. I tried that and it seems to be working for me! Others have been solving disabling iCloud synchronization for mail and calendar.

This is definitely no hardware issue, there seems to be conflict between apps and software.

If anyone still have this issue, try read this post from where I found my solution ios 9.2 battery drain (iPhone 6) , might not be working for everyone, but give it a try

I don't understand why Apple can't fix this.  My battery went from 80% to 20% in 90 minutes when waiting at the doctor's office with no WiFi. This is ridiculous. This happens all the time.  The strange thing is that it drops quickly to 20% then 12% then the phone shuts down.  If I plug it in, then it immediately shows about 35%, not 0%.  This happens all the time and I can't use a phone like this.  This is why Apple is losing market share. They cannot even keep the current equipment running more less adding new products.

I have iphone 4s and always lasted a day and a half with no problem. Now the battery drains before 6:00 from fully charged in the morning. I have to recharge or it just drops from 40% to 0 in 2 hours. This just started after updating.

For all of you saying its the batterie, the support is right, its not the batterie its the cpu, its blasting att full force even tho it only realy needs to only use 10-20% as average, the rest 80% is used for quick burst when loading apps or something else that needs to be quick but needs allot of cpu, once a app is fully loaded the cpu should only be at 5-10% unless its a performance heavy app like a game then it needs about just 20%. But as it is now when i run games my phone use 50-100% cpu causing my phone to reach atleast 75deg C. How do i know you ask? Well its because it feels the same as the metal around my fan vent on my laptop when the gpu gets to 80+ C. My phone gets to above finger temp just from me typing this on safari.

    Few questions:

    • Do you have a watch?
    • Do you have a corporate profile (device management) on the phone?
    • Do you have an Exchange account?

I'm affected by a similar issue.
