Q: Mouse & Trackpad Stopped Working with the May 2016 Yosemite Update

I have an iMac that I purchased in December 2012 along with a magic mouse & trackpad. With the latest update of Yosemite neither on works so I have no way to input anything to the computer. Has anyone else seen this or solved it?

iMac (27-inch, Late 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

No way to re-boot in safe mode? If you can, this may help.

To load your Mac in Safe Mode, press and hold the Shift key while it boots. You can stop holding the Shift key when you see an Apple logo and progress bar. To leave Safe Mode, just reboot your Mac without holding the Shift key.

Try resetting the SMC (no peripherals required).
