To change the daily Move (active calories) goal (this can be done at any time):
- Open the Activity app on your watch:
- Tap on the Activity rings complication.
- Or go the Home screen (via a single press of the Digital Crown) and tap on the Activity app icon (coloured rings).
- From anywhere within the Activity app, press firmly on the screen > tap on Change Move Goal > choose a new goal by adjusting the target there.
Every Monday, Apple Watch provides a weekly summary of your Move achievements. At the bottom, this may include a suggested change to your Move goal. Scroll to the bottom of the notification to accept or amend any suggested change or to change the goal for the coming week to any other preferred level. If the summary is not viewed immediately upon receipt, you can open it later from the Notification Centre (which is accessed by swiping down on the screen when viewing the time).
To check that you have opted in to receiving the weekly summary:
- On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Activity > scroll down to Weekly Summary - check that this is turned on.
More information:
- Open the Activity app on your watch:

May 30, 2016 9:01 AM in response to Jonathan UKby monikbm,Thank you, but how do I know what is the exact goal to set for active calories? I understand how to set the goal, but I don't understand what is the number I should set as my goal according to my age, weight and sex. Thanks!

May 30, 2016 9:05 AM in response to monikbmby Jonathan UK,★HelpfulWhen you first set up the Activity app on Apple Watch, the app will ask you choose an activity level. Your initial Move goal (active calories) is then set automatically by the watch. This is based on your chosen activity level along with other personal information that you enter when setting up the app (age, sex, height and weight).

May 30, 2016 9:09 AM in response to monikbmby monikbm,Is there a formula I can use on how to convert active calories into regular calories?

May 30, 2016 9:21 AM in response to monikbmby Jonathan UK,Apple Watch uses active calories (those that are burned by standing or moving around) as the primary measure for the Workout app and Activity app. However, the watch does also estimate your resting calories (energy that your body uses every day with minimal activity - such as when just lying in bed). Active + resting calories = total calories (which some other fitness apps / devices report instead as their primary measure).
To see your total calories for any previous day:
- On your iPhone, in the Activity app, tap on a day to view the activity rings > scroll to the Move section > swipe left on the Move chart > active and total calories for the day are shown.
When recording activities using the built-in Workout app, you can choose to have total calories shown as the primary information (instead of, for example, active calories or other data).
