Q: Netflix won't stream

With, or shortly after the latest Tvos update, our Apple TV gen 4 decided that it will not stream Netflix. The Netflix User Interface is mostly ok, not as snappy, but pretty good.  When we select content to show, the red spinning circle of slowness appears, and eventually, we get the dreaded "select something else or try again later, ERROR 10008".

Netflix tells me there is no ERROR 10008 that they know of.

We are able to stream Netflix on our iPhones, iPads and Macs.

We have restarted the router, the Apple Tv, and Netflix.  We have deleted Netflix app and re-installed.  We've tried other users. Nothing works so far.

Any ideas??

No changes in setup, or anything else, but Netflix is now working very well.

I have the same issue with ATV 4 across multiple apps. I have to basically restart the Apple TV when this happens or I won't be able to stream using any of the apps. Their content also doesn't load - it sits on a black screen with a spinning wheel. Other times the app content loads, but won't stream - I get the spinning circle of infinity. Apple TV is plugged directly into router via Ethernet and is getting 63 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up. My Roku, which is downstairs using wireless, has no such issues and works 100% every time.

    Apple get your act together!

Hi, for me it's only a Netflix issue since all other apps work fine. Netflix support let me switch my local network to IPv6, restart every little piece of gear, update, deinstall und reinstall the app, logout/login, direct connect via HDMI to the TV, use different accounts, play different movies...nothing helps. Apple TV 3 and every other device capable of Netflix is playing flawlessly in the same network.

    I'm not happy.

Problem solved (at least for me). After hours of support chat with Netflix and everything else checked, I vaguely remembered I had a spam filter running on my router. Despite every other device working perfectly well with it and also streaming Netflix, Apple TV seems to be troubled by that. Deactivating the spam filter for this device made it happen. Netflix works fine now also on ATV 4.

    Hi SebastianE.!

Your response from Jan 4 has probably just saved me hours of investigating or chatting with Netflix. Thanks a million!

    • I'm posting more details which might help other people too:
    • A couple of days ago I activated the parental control (Kindersicherung) on my router FRITZ!Box / Fritz Box (rather widespread in Germany at least).
    • Yesterday I tried to watch Netflix via Apple TV 4 and came across error 10008. I guessed it would be a temporary issue and tried again today but saw that error 10008 was still there.
    • After a bit of searching for "Netflix 10008" I saw your post and your remark "spam filter running on my router" reminded me of the parental control setting.
    • I set "Apple TV" to unrestricted in the parental control of my router and Netflix works again!

    Thanks!
