Q: D-Link DWA 157 not working in OS X 10.10.2

I have a usb modem D-Link DWA 157. It comes with its own connection manager. After I install it, I get a message saying that my modem is working and it will be configured. But after that the application crashes. Here is the error message: http://pastebin.com/J3QNjkbA

I have tried to look for technical support from D-Link but to no avail. I am posting here with the hope of getting the device to work manually.

MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

I have tried to look for technical support from D-Link but to no avail.

Read the user manual that came w/your modem and/or visit its tech support website.  The user manual may have another support link and/or a phone # for you to use.

    OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Use Software Update/App Store to update your OS to OS 10.10.5.  Also, update everything SU/AS has to offer for your computer.  When done, repair permissions and restart your computer.

Also, please update/correct your ASC profile to show your updated info.

Are you using any anti-virus or cleaning programs?

Try running this program and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.

I have found the problem. The drivers provided by D-Link were not signed by Apple. I've heard that Apple allowed unsigned drivers in Mavericks but blocked them in Yosemite. So the suggestion was to run:

    sudo nvram boot-args=kext-dev-mode=1

to allow all unsigned drivers to run, and it worked.

Is there a better way by which I can allow only the D-Link application to run unsigned drivers?

Also, you have to reboot after running the above command
