Q: Thunderbolt display not showing desktop
My Thunderbolt display shut down yesterday afternoon while I was working in quickbooks. I purchased this display in January, 2016 and it has occasionally turned itself off and then back on for no apparent reason. This time it just went down. I have taken the following steps and now have a blue screen with no desktop display. When I check displays on System Information the Thunderbolt Display does appear. I'm stymied. Can anyone help?
1. unplugged and replugged in the display and all other peripherals.
2. Rebooted the computer
I now have a blue screen and the menu bar at the top is showing system preferences while my macbook pro is displaying this Apple Community screen. I have checked system preferences. To my knowledge I have changed nothing since I first set up this system.
System was installed January, 2016. It is MacBook Pro Retina 15 inch 2015.

Try SMC and PRAM reset on your MacBook. Then connect TBD and see what happens.
