Q: Tweets not loading, Messenger not loading

Hi,

Purchased an Apple Watch today. I've set it up and installed some apps; Twitter and Facebook messenger. Neither of these apps appear to work. In Twitter tweets will not load, all I get is a message with "tweets aren't loading right now" and in Facebook messenger the loading screen appears to be never ending.

Anyone have a solution to this?

    Hi

    In respect of Messenger (by Facebook), try the following steps, which have reportedly worked for others:

    • On your watch, attempt to open the Messenger app (which will only show as loading);
    • Immediately afterwards, on your iPhone, in the Messenger app, go to: Settings > Apple Watch > change any quick reply;
    • Check the status of the app on your watch.

    Otherwise, first try Apple's suggested steps, trying to open affected third-party apps after each:

    • Place your Apple Watch on its charger, connected to power - and also connect your iPhone to power.
    • On your iPhone: open the Music app and start playing any song (through your iPhone speakers is fine).
    • On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > scroll down and tap on the name of any app that won't open > turn off the setting for Show App on Apple Watch > pause for a few moments > turn it back on.

    If that does not resolve the issue, Apple next suggests unpairing and re-pairing your watch:

    If the issue persists, the following steps may help. Try to open affected third-party apps after each:

    • On your iPhone, go to: Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Usage > In the Storage section, tap on Manage Storage > Music > Edit (upper-right corner) > delete All Songs.
    • Back up your iPhone to iCloud (do not reset your iPhone afterwards, just make the backup):
    • Next back up (but do not Sync) your iPhone to iTunes, selecting the option to "Encrypt iPhone backup" (again, do not reset your iPhone afterwards, just make the backup):
    • Try opening an affected app again.
    • Music can be added back to your iPhone again after trying these steps.

    This first method worked for Facebook Messenger but I'm still unable to get Twitter to load tweets.

    Other steps that may help:

    • Check for and install any available update for the Twitter app on your iPhone:
      • In the App Store app, tap on the Updates tab to view available updates.

    • Remove and reinstall the Twitter app on your watch:
      • On your iPhone, in the Watch app, to go: My Watch > Twitter (scroll down the list) > turn off Show App on Apple Watch > pause for a few moments > turn it back on again.

    You may find that the latest update for Twitter (version 6.56, released on 21 June) resolves this issue.

    Should you encounter any issues when trying to install or use it, try the following steps:

    • On your iPhone: update the Twitter app (via the Updates tab in the App Store app).
    • On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Twitter > turn off Show App on Apple Watch > allow a short while for the app to be removed from your watch.
    • On your iPhone: close all open apps by double-clicking the Home button and then swiping up on each app preview.
    • Restart your iPhone and Apple Watch:
    • On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Twitter:
      • Turn on Show App on Apple Watch > allow time for the app to install.
      • If desired, also turn on Show in Glances.
