Q: Serial number of Apple Watch brings up error message on Coverage Checker website each time I've tried?

I bought a 38mm Rose Gold Apple Watch from eBay, and it didn't come in original box, but looks like charger cable is real. No USB wall socket adaptor though.

When I enter the serial number on https://checkcoverage.apple.com/gb/en/ it returns:

"We're sorry, but we are unable to complete your request at this time. Please try again later."

Watch came without any Activation Lock and appears to be working perfectly.....

I've tried twice now, 3 days apart.

Is this a non retail unit maybe? Do they exist?

Apple Watch, watchOS 2.2.1, null

    Hi

If you haven't yet done so, you may wish to try adding the watch to your support profile:

    https://supportprofile.apple.com

When successfully added, this also enables you to check the Repairs and Service Coverage status by tapping / clicking on the arrow to the right of the watch within the product list.

Should you instead need to contact Apple by telephone, the UK support number is 0800 107 6285.

    Thanks Jonathan,

After trying your suggestion it seems there is a problem with the serial number - I tried adding my other Watch (Purchased from John Lewis) and that came up with all the correct info, so it's the serial of this new one that is at fault.

Tried contacting Apple on the phone. 40 mins of waiting and then got cut off. SO frustrating! I've always experienced consistently awful phone support from Apple.

Any other suggestions or is the Apple phone support lottery the only other option to validate this Apple Watch?

As it's the Rose Gold which was released in Sep '15 (?) it should show the device being under a year old as my other is...

I suggest persevering with the phone route.

I'm having the same issue.  I can't get to a point to buy applecare on  my watch.  This error comes up when I enter the serial number both to add to my profile and to check support.  What do I do?

    Hi John

AppleCare+ can be purchased within 60 days from the original sale date of the watch.

As you have already purchased your watch, in order to purchase AppleCare+, you will need to either:

    • Visit an Apple Retail Store
      • Inspection of the watch and proof of purchase are required.
    • Call Apple
      • A remote diagnostic and proof of purchase are required.
      • In the US, call: (800) 275-2273.
