I suspect there is some critical data in the pending sector that needs to be read at connection time which is causing the problem. Try reformatting the drive and then see if it will restore properly.

Jun 1, 2016 10:49 AM in response to Vikram.S.Patilby turingtest2,Try booting up your computer with the device connected in disk mode. You may be able to format it then. Alternatively a Mac owning friend may be able to restore it for you which will reformat it at the same time, then when you restore again it will be reformatted for Windows.
