Q: Is this RAM suitable for my Macbook Pro(late 2011, 13")?

Hello,

Since updating to El Capitan, the speed of my mac has dramatically reduced. I can't afford to purchase a new one at the present time, so I'm looking to update the RAM in my Macbook Pro (13 inch, late 2011), and looking for some advice.

I've been looking at this website to purchase 2 x 8GB (which states that my model can accept 16GB in total!), but the guidance contained here states that the maximum total RAM you can install is 8GB. Has anyone successfully upgraded to 16GB? Or should I go for 2 x 4GB to be safe? I don't want to waste money on buying something that isn't going to work, hence my basic questions!

Many thanks,

Sharon

YYep! I had the same question originally. I have a late 2011 too. It works great! I found that it says 8gb is the max because that used to be the max you could buy of this size. As long as it says DDR3, you should be good, though 8gb per chip is the max you'll find, totally 16gb, which is what I'm running
