Q: iPods not recognising, Windows 10 "Malfunction"

Hi all, I've recently purchased a new laptop, imported my old iTunes library- it's all gone fine so far. However, upon plugging in my iPod Nano 3rd Gen and iPod Nano 6th Gen, my computer says that the software has malfunctioned and is unable to recognize the device. I have gone through a number of fixes and can't seem to be able to do anything else. I never had any issues like this on my older setup, so this is all quite confusing for me.

I have tried uninstalling all USB drivers and updating them all, to no avail.

Resetting both iPods have not worked, I doubt they're the issue as they synced just fine on the old setup, and they still work just fine.

I believe the cable I use is not the issue as iTunes still recognizes my iPhone 4S when I plug that in. Additionally, the current wire I use worked just fine on my old PC and iTunes (which was also Windows 10).

I was able to update a 1st Generation iPad Mini with it's appropriate wire.

I have also reinstalled iTunes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

iPod nano, iPod Nano 3rd and 6th Gen.

Aye, it's likely what Eric said- I went through EVERY other fix a part from the new cable- I had convinced myself it wasn't the cable as it seemed to sort of pick and choose when it wouldn't work- leading me to believe it was the iPods that were at fault (despite the fact that they worked perfectly fine on their own).

What sort of gave me the idea that it could indeed be the cable was the fact that the USB ports seemed to be fine- anything else I plugged in (USBs, Tablets, mice) they all worked in every port. And when I used an official Apple wire to update some of the newer gen iPads, it worked fine!

..If any of this makes sense to you. Try not to fret, just hang in there until you get a hold on a new wire- it's likely the problem!

Hello again. Good news - I found another fix which worked and it was a driver issue related to Windows 10 as I suspected. As soon as I followed the instructions it worked straightaway...hooray! I will probably get a new cable anyway as the old one is looking a bit worse for wear but meanwhile, thank you for your help (and you too, Eric)!
