It happen to me too. I used two original iPhone's cables with my iPod and iPhone but it's showing up only the iPhone on my iTunes. It is interesting because the iPod appears like it is charging when the cable it is connected. It happens only since the last iTunes actualization.

Ipod nano model: MA477 v1.1.3
iTunes v12.4.1.6

I would not advise a full-on blast for any length of time, as you don't want to run a risk if disodging any components or connections, but a slight "waving" motion for a second or two shoud be enough.
