Q: Family Sharing option missing from MacBook Air

I am trying to set up family sharing from my Mac book, and create a child account for my 12 year old.

I am trying to follow the instructions on the apple support forums to enable family sharing from my mac, but when I go to system preferences> iCloud I cannot find the family sharing option.

My MacBook Air is up to date and has OS X 10.9.5 system.
What should I do?

You need to upgrade to Yosemite to be able to use Family Sharing on your MacBook Air.

See:   Family Sharing - Apple Support

See the fine print at the bottom of the page:

Family Sharing requires a personal Apple ID signed in to iCloud and iTunes 12. Music, movies, TV shows, and books can be downloaded on up to 10 devices per account, five of which can be computers. iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite or later are required to set up or join a Family Sharing group and are recommended for full functionality.

Upgrade to OS X 10.11.5 El Capitan to be up to date, if your other applications are compatible with the newer OS X versions.
