Q: I see some of the videos on the library of the project but not in the timeline

I see some of the videos on the library of the project but not in the timeline. They are totally in Black.

Also, Fina cut created another library in the same bin, called Updated Projects, with exactly the three

files that I can't see in the timeline.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

CCan you give more detail of what you've done? It sounds as though you updated from an older version of FCP pre-10.1. Is that correct? Check all your clips to see if they are all the correct media.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I really can't say why I have this event called Updated Projects on the same library (elements) where I have the event LA PAZ, where the project that I'm working on is. It's possible that I started to work on this project in a earlier version but I actually don't remember. Anyway the "updated projects" event only have those 3 video files (and two more, a sound one and another video one). I'm sending to you too screen shots where you can see the files that have a problem in both events. you also can see that in the timeline of the project, those files don't appear. Many thanks for you trying.Screen Shot 1.pngScreen Shot 2.png

I'm not sure what the problem is. Where is the project Teleferico La Paz? It's open in the timeline? Is it in the La Paz event? The top of the event is cut off so I can't see what's there. Or is it in another event? In Elements Smart Collections look in the Projects Smart Collection.

Sorry, I did't notice that the top of the event was cut off. Sending it to you again. Yes Teleferico La Paz it's open in the timeline and in La Paz event, as well as the original movie files, as you can see now (Screen Shot 3). Another strange thing and as complementar information is that when you click on the movie file in the event (Screen Shot 4), the information that is shown is different from the one that is shown if you click on the same movie file from the timeline (Screen Shot 5).

Many thanks for you help and patient,

    Carlos

The difference in duration in image 4 is that in the timeline you have a selection, but the total times 32:23:11 are the same. I'm not seeing any problem here, other than the missing files in the event and the timeline.

The information about the same file IMG_4169 is different clicking it in the Library or in the Timeline. But anyway, in the timeline, the file doesn't appear.

There's a problem with 4169. The audio has a bad sample rate. Where did this come from?

When you say it doesn't appear in the timeline, do you mean the filmstrip doesn't display, or the clip doesn't display in the viewer?

Please give complete information about this file and how it got into your computer and what has been done to it.

If I click on the file in the Library browser I can see it on the viewer, but the filmstrip doesn't show up in the timeline (even if the editing cuts are there), and if you play it you just see black on the viewer...I really don't know where did come from the bad sample rate of 4169. How did you see that problem?

This is on the clip in the timeline, not on the clip in the browser. The browser clip has a sample rate of 44.1, which is the CD standard not the video standard, and really shouldn't be used in production.

Please give complete information about this file and how it got into your computer and what has been done to it. What shot it? Open the file in the QT player and report what it says in the inspector window.

The original video was shot with an Iphone 4. I didn't get what should be the correct sample rate....all videos have a 44.1 sample rate. The only one that has the 6kHz is the one in the timeline that doesn't show up

The standard sample rate for video is 48K not 44.1. It's unfortunate the the iPhone shoots at non-standard frame rates and audio sample rates. Makes it prone to problems. I don't know what's happened to your video or why or what can be done with it.
