Q: How to recover Firefox previous windows cache in Yosemite

iMac running 10.10.5. Older creative/non-tech-savvy user, so please pretend like you're talking to your parents.   :-)

Whenever Firefox starts, it opens my previous windows and tabs. I accidentally closed an older window with multiple tabs (which do NOT appear in the history as they were too old) and want to recover it from a previously saved version via a Time Machine backup.

I tried searching Google with the subject line and only found ways to clear the cache which is not what I want.

Any idea where I can find the equivalent of a Firefox "previous windows and tabs" file in a backup and replace the one I have so when I restart, all will be there?

Thanks for any help!

Does this help? (see last post in this thread)

The profile folder is in your user(Home Folder) Library>Application Support>Firefox

    Otherwise

YES! The second link didn't work but the first one nailed it.

I just quit FF, removed the current "sessionrestore-backups" folder from my Library/Application Support/Firefox folder, renamed it, then dragged a previous one from one of my Time Machine backups to the current folder; restarted FF and voila!

(Only weirdness: I could not find the Library folder under my user folder in the Time Machine backups. I had to do a search for files named "Firefox" within my user folder and then it showed up. Silly Apple.)   ;-)

    Thank you!

    Glad it worked for you.

To keep your user Library visible, copy/paste the following into a Terminal.app window (in Applications>Utilities) and hit return.

    chflags nohidden ~/Library/

If you are not comfortable using Terminal, go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.
