Q: how to control updates
I find it really frustrating when I am concentrating on a topic and an update/popup hits the screen, i.e. I was on youtube just now practicing with a kungfu workout vid, I had one leg in the air then my picture got blocked by an Adobe reader update request. Yeah, in hindsight it was funny but quite often this happens when working on projects. Now, if they all came up at the beginning and I could choose which to accept and which not to, that would be great but, the ones I refuse and others keep coming up.
Any suggestions would be really I mean really appreciated
Cheers

Go to System Preferences > App Store. Uncheck the "Download newly available updates in the background”. You won't have any more interrupted kicks.
EDIT: Also, be sure "Automatically check for updates is unchecked.
