Q: Hi

I have MacBook Pro and need Firewire cable to connect between my MacBook and Sony Handycam

MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

    Are you certain that it is a Firewire cable?  There are 6 pin and 9 pin versions.

     

    An Internet search should allow you to find what you need:

    for cameras, there are also 4-pin versions.

     

    Everything converts to everything else with just a cable because the pins included are:

     

    4-pin: just data for speeds up to FireWire-400, but with self-powered devices (like cameras).

    6-pin: power and data for use at speeds up to FireWire-400

    9-pin: power and data with push-pull drivers for speeds up to FireWire-800, provided all devices can run at that speed.
