Q: Is it possible to mute all sounds and haptic feedback when the iPhone is connected to Apple Carplay?

Is it possible to mute all sounds and haptic feedback when the iPhone is connected to Apple Carplay?

While driving, I noticed all navigation feedback is also sent to my phone, creating a distraction while driving. Is there an automatic way to stop sending alerts to my watch whil the iPhone is also connected to Carplay?

If not, consider this as feedback/request. If there is, please share. I do not want to manually switch off and on all notifications when using Carplay.

Best regards,

    Hi

It may help to place your watch into Do Not Disturb mode before driving:

    - On your watch: when viewing the time, swipe up on the watch face > swipe left/right to the Settings glance > tap the moon icon to toggle Do Not Disturb on and off.

You may also wish to turn off mirroring for Do Not Disturb mode. When mirroring is enabled, turning on Do Not Disturb on your watch will also automatically enable it on your iPhone.

    - On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > General > Do Not Disturb - turn on / off Mirror iPhone.

To send any feedback and/or feature requests to Apple, you can submit the form here (all submissions are read):

    Hi Jonathan,

This answer is not really what I what I want to do. As stated, I do not want to manually switch on or of notifications (Same goes for any manual input) as you might forget to turn it back on.

As the iPhone notices it connects to Carplay (You will see the logo on the screen, and while connected a blue bar at the top) it must be possible to have the phone switch a setting for the connected watch. I do realize this feature is not yet active, there fore I also raised it as a request with Apple.

In the mean time, I will look into IFTTT to create an If Then Else routine, but still think this should be a valuable option for Apple to implement (thinking on how they like to have the IT work like magic for their users.

    Thanks for your response!

If it possible to mirror the iPhone settings using this DND function, it should be relatively possible to link such action to connecting Carplay?

i have the same problem. I use my phone for car navigation via car mounting kit. But my watch still beeps and taps my wrist taking my attention away from the road to silence it. Haptic is ok in some situations, but not while driving. It's going to cause vehicle accidents.
