Q: Upgraded Internet modem

My internet provider (Optimum / CableVision) upgraded the cable modem to a 5G device.  My Base station / Time Capsule has a flashing amber light; no other WiFi devices (2) have the problem.  Opened Airport Utility and the Base Station/ Time Capsule is not found; other devices are visible.  Any idea why this might be occurring?  As I cannot "see" the device, I cannot determine whether firmware must be updated, etc.

Suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes, there is a new firmware update for AirPort devices. That may be why the orange light is flashing. However, it should appear in AirPort Utility. Maybe try unplugging the unit, waiting half a minute, and plugging it in again. Also make sure there's an Ethernet cable from your cable modem to the WAN port (represented by a circle of dots) on your base station, unless your base station was in "extend a network" mode rather than "create a network" mode.

Thank you for your response.  While "helpful," this was NOT the "CORRECT" answer for this issue … it is NOT solved.  Yet the site automatically posted "SOLVED" [stupid site].

I did unplug the Base Station, waited 15 minutes, plugged it back in.  The problem persists.  The BaseStation is not recognized on the Airport Utility program, and the amber light persists.  This is causing a problem because the automated back-ups the Time Capsule ceased at the point when the Base Station ceased to be recognized.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks.

Well, the only other thing would be to completely reset the Time Capsule to factory defaults and start over. This should only affect the network settings and won't delete backups. I would recommend taking note of your current Wi-Fi network name and password and re-enter the same ones when you set up the Time Capsule again so you don't have to manually reconnect all your devices when you finish.
