Q: Photos not syncing from icloud to imac

I recently purchased a new 27" iMac.  We did the mac to mac transfer to setup the new iMac.Everything was working great, pictures taken on the iPhone were transferring to iCloud and to the iMac, just has they should.  The for some reason, the photos have stopped syncing to the iMac, they are in the iCLoud.  What do I need to do so they will resume syncing.  There are lots of pictures on the iPhone and ICloud that have not found their way to the iMac.  What do I need to do to make this work again. Thanks

iMac with Retina 5K display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

We can not see you so you have to provide details

most common cause of this is that the Mac has photos to upload and it will not download anything until all uploads are done - In PHotos you can see if there are problem photos with a new smart album (file menu ==> new smart album) for Photo is unable to upload to iCloud Photo Library

Sorry, I did not mention that the iMac does not upload any photos.  It only receives them, only IOS devices upload to iCloud

Again you have to provide details but That is not possible

If you are using iCLoud Photo Library then all devices sync adn every change made to any device is made to all devices

If you are using MyPhotoStream then again all photos from all devices are uploaded to MPS and downed to other devices

so details are critical - what are you iLcloud setting on the MC AND ON EACH IS DEVICE?

    Hi LN

iMac - Photos Prefs - Only My Photo Stream is checked

iCloud - My Photo Stream is checked

iPhone /iCloud - iCloud Photo Library is on (green)

        Optimize iPhoto Storage is checked

Upload to My Photo Stream is on (green)

Upload Burst Photos is on (green)

iCloud Photo Sharing is on (green)

Photos make it from the iPhone to the iCloud, but photos as of May 21 have not made it to the iMac

I did check for a problem photo on the iMac using the Smart Folder as suggested - nothing was in the folder

Since you have your library on your Phone adn on iCLoud.com why not just turn ICPL on the on tne Mac and have it everyplace?

I do not use MPS so have no real world experience but your set up sound like it should be uploading all photos from the phone to the Mac and from the Mac to the Phone using MPS subject the  MPS limit sand the daily/hourly maximum limits

    Hi LN

So tonight I got back to checking what was going on with Photos not syncing.  Tonight they are all back in sync again.  Not sure what or why. Two days ago it was not.

    Thanks for the help
