Q: Why does it keep asking for my iCloud information to go to my iMessage when I'm already logged in

Why does it keep asking for my iCloud information to go to my iMessage when I'm already logged in? For about two days now my iPad won't let me see my iMessages because it says that I'm not logged into my iCloud but I am. So I put my iCloud information to re-login then it asks me to verify email for FaceTime, so I do and it still doesn't work... I've tried the same thing over & over again about 10 times now and still nothin... Is this happening to anyone else?

iPad Mini, iOS 9.3.2

    Hi Vernie1987,

We all want our iMessages to work correctly. The article Sign in with a different Apple ID on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch has steps to verify you are using the correct Apple ID for iMessages.

    1. Tap Settings > Messages.
    2. Tap Send & Receive.
    3. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
    4. Tap Use your Apple ID for iMessage.
    5. Enter your Apple ID and password, then tap Sign In.

The same article has the steps for FaceTime.

    1. Tap Settings > FaceTime.
    2. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
    3. Tap Use your Apple ID for FaceTime.
    4. Enter your Apple ID and password, then tap Sign In.

This should help you get these up and running for you again.

Have a great rest of your day.

    Vernie197,

We can see about some other options to get this working just need some more information.

When you log out and back in, does it say about activating iMessage?

Do you use iMessage and FaceTime on other devices?

Do you get any errors other than just asking you to sign in again?

When I log out and back in from my iMessage a little pop up shows up asking my to verify my icloud [so I can use it] so I click okay and it sends me here to log back in an it doesn't work. I only use my iMessage & FaceTime on my iPad. That's the only error I get. I asked my friend if she was having the same problem on her iPad and she said no that's never happened to her. I told it's never happened to me either until now. [My Friend thought maybe I got hacked]

    Vernie197,

Do you have a backup of your data?

I would do the backup first if you do not have one, then restore your device in iTunes and then restore the backup onto the device.

    This should resolve this issue.

    vernie1987,

How to back up your devices using iCloud or iTunes goes over making a backup:

    Make a backup using iTunes

    1. Open iTunes and connect your device to your computer.
    2. Save content that you downloaded from the iTunes Store or App Store by clicking File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. Then wait for the transfer to finish. If you're using Windows and you don't see a File menu, hold down the Control and B keys.
    3. If you want to save Health and Activity data from your iOS device or Apple Watch, you’ll need to encrypt your backup: Select the box called Encrypt [device] backup and make a memorable password.
    4. Write down your password and store it somewhere safe, because there's no way to recover your iTunes backups without this password.
    5. If you don't need to save your Health and Activity data, you can make a backup that isn't encrypted. Just click Back Up Now. If you're using Windows click File > Devices > Back up (if you don't see a File menu, hold down the Control and B keys).
    6. After the process ends, you can see if your backup finished successfully in iTunes Preferences > Devices. You should see the name of your device with the date and time that iTunes created the backup. If you encrypted your backup, you should also see   beside the name of your device.

Once the backup is done we can restore the device in iTunes, Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings goes over the steps.

Restore your device to factory settings

    1. Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
    2. Connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to your computer with the cable that came with your device.
    3. If a message asks for your device passcode or to Trust This Computer, follow the onscreen steps. If you forgot your passcode, get help.
    4. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod when it appears in iTunes.
    5. In the Summary panel, click Restore [device].
    6. In the summary panel in iTunes, click Restore iPhone
    7. Click Restore again to confirm. Then iTunes erases your device and installs the latest iOS or iPod software.
    8. In iTunes, click Restore again to confirm.
    9. After your device restores to factory settings, it restarts. Now you can set it up as new.

The article Restore your device from an iCloud or iTunes backup has the steps to restore a backup to your device:

    iTunes

    1. Connect your device to the computer that you stored your backup on.
    2. Open iTunes. If iTunes tells you there's an iOS update, get the latest version.
    3. Go to File > Devices > Restore from Backup. If you're using Windows and don’t see a File menu, press the Alt key.
    4. Look at the date and size of each backup and pick the most relevant.
    5. Click restore and wait for the process to finish. Your device will restart and then sync with your computer. Stay connected until the sync finishes.

Let me know how it goes.
