A typo?
If it is and you mean Photos for Mac date are changed by selecting the photos and using the Image menu ==> adjust time and date command and changes to metadata like keywords, location, etc are made by selecting the photos and getting info and entering the metadata in the info window
these are detailed in the Photos Help topics - a great place to look for help on Photos
View and add information about photos
You can view and add information about your photos. For example, you can see the date and time a photo was taken, information about the camera that took the photo, and badges that indicate the state of the photo. You can assign titles and captions to photos, add or change the location of photos, and change the date and time information for them. You can select multiple photos in a moment and add or change information about them all at once.
View and add information about photos
To view or change information for photos, you select one or more photos, then open the Info window.
- Open the Info window: Double-click a photo to view it, then click the Info button
in the toolbar or press Command-I.
- Add or change information: Edit any of the following.
- Title: Enter a name in the Title field.
- Description: Enter a caption in the Description field.
- Favorite: Click the Favorite button
to mark the photo as a favorite. Click the button again to unmark it. - Keywords: Enter keywords in the Keywords field. As you type, Photos suggests keywords that you’ve used before. Press Enter when you’ve finished a keyword. To remove a keyword, select it and press Delete.
- Faces: Click
and type a name to identify a face. Click
multiple times and drag the face identifier over different faces to identify multiple faces in a photo. - Location: Enter a location in the Location field. As you type, Photos suggests locations that you can choose. To change a location, you can search for a different location or change the location by dragging a pin on the map. To remove location information, delete it or choose Image > Location, then choose Remove Location or Revert to Original Location. You can’t assign a location if your computer is not connected to the Internet.
Display titles, other metadata, and badges
Change a photo’s date and time
You can change the date and time associated with a photo. You might want to do this if you travel to a location in another time zone, and your camera assigns your photos dates and times that are correct for your home, but not the place you visited.- Select the photos you want to change.
- Choose Image > Adjust Date and Time.
- Enter the date and time you want in the Adjusted field.
- Click a time zone on the map, if necessary.
- Click Adjust.

- Open the Info window: Double-click a photo to view it, then click the Info button

Thank you!!! You were right about the typo -- I meant Mac "Photos" not "Pages" --
Your answer was right on, exactly what I needed. (I'm very new to both El Capitan & Photos)
Best, John

Jun 9, 2016 1:00 PM in response to LarryHNby DWar,The thought of having to do this individually for well over 1000 photos is crazy. As I understand it, the date the picture was actually taken is part of the "EXIF data"? One can apparently access this. Why can't we reset Photos to always use the date the photo was taken? Or switch to the original dates as a batch? This has especially been an issue in recent months trying to unscramble photos of 2 different new Grandchildren when they are sent and re-sent by various relatives on different dates. However, it is an issue that has been annoying me for years. I would ALWAYS want the date the photo was taken. The fact that they set it up differently boggles my mind.

Jun 9, 2016 1:12 PM in response to hydropolis42by LarryHN,For dates select the photos and use the adjust time/date command exactly like the iPhoto batch change time/date command -
for title select the photos and get info and enter the title in the info window - it will be applied to all selected photos

Jun 9, 2016 2:14 PM in response to LarryHNby DWar,When I do as you describe, for example I see a date of 3/31 in Photos for a newborn photograph taken on 2/7/16. The date it was taken is correctly identified in the original message I received that day. 3/31 may be that day I saved it from Messages to Photos on my phone. Is the date taken still preserved after I saved it to photos on the iPhone, and copied to Photos on the iMac? In this case, I know when the picture was taken, and the original date is given by the photo in Messages. For all the rest of my photos . . .. I mis-typed earlier. I would be trying to fix the dates on over 6000 photos. Is there a way to have Photos access the date taken?
