Jun 9, 2016 1:10 PM in response to bobfromsaint pete beachby babowa,You can have the adapter replaced by Apple - it is an Apple product and the warranty for it should be with Apple. In fact, I had not purchased the adapter from Apple either - I had bought it at an AASP.
There is nothing to be nervous about with a reset as long as you have a backup. As well, since this is a brand new iPad, then maybe there is something amiss with it. Take it to the Genius Bar (make an appointment first using the Apple store app - download that to your iPad) - you're covered by your warranty, so take advantage of it.
