Q: Calendar alerts repeat every 5 mins in Yosemite

I want my calendar alerts to appear once, as scheduled. When they appear on the screen I click 'Close' but they keep coming back in less than 5 minutes. In previous operating systems they would only appear once. I don't want to turn them off completely or use 'do not disturb

    Hi there create-ed,

Based on what you've described, I understand that you'd like your Calendar notifications to only appear once. That is totally understandable, and I'd be glad to help out with this. If you only have the alert set to occur at the time of the event, it sounds like you may be choosing the option to "Snooze" the event rather than the option to "Close" when the notification appears. If you click and hold "Snooze" when the alert appears, it will allow you to choose an amount of time to repeat the notification.

Take a look at this website for more information on this:

Calendar (El Capitan): Set event alerts and receive notifications

Calendar (Yosemite): Set event alerts and receive notifications

If you're using a different version of Mac OS X, let us know in a reply.

    Cheers.

    Hi Jameson.h

Thank you for the tip about Snooze. I selected 'Snooze - until end time' and it came back again in 3 mins (repeat, repeat, repeat....). It is always the same one notification that keeps coming back. The calendar involved is linked to our Checkfront booking system. The default settings are 'alert 1 day before at 9am'.

Also, I have ALWAYS been selecting the 'Close' option when the notification appears. I never select 'snooze' normally, as I just want to be reminded once and then I never want to see the thing again, unless I have set up an additional alert on the calendar. I have used notifications very successfully in Mountain Lion, which I have just migrated from.

May I ask another question? In the notification pane there are 2 little green ticks in circles: one against my name (organiser) and one against the other person's name (our guest). Does this mean it is also sending out the notification to the other person? I have not set this up in the alert and I hope our guest is not being sent this annoying alert as well.

    Thanks

Reference your 2nd paragraph, would you make a screen shot so people can see what you are seeing? Make sure you cover any personal information using Preview. Post the screen shot in a Reply using the camera icon or you can drag the screen shot into a reply. Copy and paste doesn't work.
