Q: Is Keynote free for my new iPod or not?

Hi, I'm trying to get two keynote files onto an iPod that I just purchased brand new from the Apple Store on June 7 2016 (two days ago). I read this article (updated only a few months ago) which says that I can get Keynote for free on my 16GB iPod. But when I follow the directions in that article and go find Keynote in the "Apps made by Apple" category on my iPod, it's listed as $9.99. What gives? Is it free or not? BTW, I am signed in with my apple id, and I just did a software update yesterday (to iOS 9.3.2). How come I can't simply download it like the article says? Thanks for any insights you might have!

I actually bought the iPod on Monday (June 6). Today's Friday (June 10). The article still reads "If you purchased a device with iOS 9 or later that's 16 GB or smaller, or if you updated your existing device to iOS 9 or later, you can download the apps for free. Follow these steps..." But when I follow the steps iTunes still says these cost $10.

Spent 26 minutes on chat with apple support to discover that this is actually just a bug of some sort. Though the Appstore said the app was $9.99, and though I thought I was spending $10 when I tapped it, it actually didn't charge my card. So if you're in the same boat it looks like the answer is: "just download it, and then check your credit card activity: there shouldn't be a charge."
