Q: Airdrop not working between my MacBook and iPhone6s

I am really tired of making this Airdrop work between my Macbook 13" (non-retina) running El-Capitan and my iPhone 6s running iOS 9.3.1. The thing is that my Macbook never shows in my phone for sharing and my phone sometimes shows in the Macbook for sharing. Though the connection to my iPad in both these devices is perfect.

I have tried every possible means to get it working, restarted both the devices several times, deleted the com.apple.bluetooth.plist from my laptop, but still nothing happens after turning on bluetooth again. I have really tired of this now and need a solution for sharing files to and fro between both these devices.

APPLE are you listening, things would have never been like this if STEVE JOBS was still there, he would have immediately looked into this problem and found a solution, but geniuses don't last. So if you guys really care about your loyal fans, have a look at this issue and solve it for us.

    Hi de_hrushi,

I understand your MacBook Pro is not appearing on your iPhone 6s when you try to use the AirDrop feature, but it is showing up on your iPad, is that right?  The resource below explains how to setup AirDrop on your devices, and some troubleshooting steps to try if it is not working.

Use AirDrop to send content from your Mac

How to use AirDrop with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Another option for sharing files between all of your devices is to use iCloud Drive.

    Take care,

This has nothing to do with a wrong setup, airdrop has a software issue in El Capitan and Apple need to do something to fix it.

Thanks for this JosueK.  It saves me spending even more time on trying to use airdrop to tranfer files.

Same problem here, unable to AirDrop from brand new Macbook Pro or brand new Macbook 12 to iPhone 6s Plus.  All have the latest OS versions. All setup to AirDrop: Everyone.  No firewall setup.  This is a critical feature in Apple products and doesn't work, very frustrating.

AGREE! This is a critical feature, NOT WORKING. I, too, have tried ALL recommended solutions (several hours over several days trying to make it work). It is NOT a setup issue.

AirDrop not working between my iPhone6 Plus, which is up-to-date iOS 9.3.2 and my MacBook Pro 2012, also up-to-date with El Capitan 10.11.5. My iPhone shows up on my Macbook Pro, but not on my iPhone. iPad connection works fine, however my photo editing software is on my MacBook Pro, not on my iPad. Turned off iPad to troubleshoot, and MacBookPro still does not show up on iPhone

Have been working with Apple products since the early 80's, I know my way around. This failed feature and Apple's failure to FIX is very disappointing. is ANYONE listening? Offering the same links again and again to the same "how to" sites does not help.

Just sign out from I cloud account from your Phone and wait few second then AirDrop will work with you.

    Thats it.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Or you can use your Apple ID to register with this site and go the Apple BugReporter. Supposedly you will get an answer if you submit feedback.
