Q: Can’t download episodes from your feed

Hi,

I have been looking into this for a day now. So I have accepted I need help to work this one out.

I though I had everything ready to upload my podcast to iTunes. However I am getting the following messages.

- Can’t download episodes from your feed.

- Podcast artwork must be between 1400 x 1400 and 3000 x 3000 pixels, JPG or PNG, in RGB color space, and hosted on a server that allows HTTP head requests.

Thing is I have checked the site with podcasting two validation sites and they say its all ok...

My feed is - http://feeds.feedburner.com/MikesOpenJournalPodcast

I am using blogger and feed burner - mikesopenjournalpodcast.blogspot.com

Any help would be great thanks

Mike

This is not a podcast feed, I'm afraid. You have no 'enclosure' tags containing the URLs of your media files, as required by iTunes. You have a reference in the 'Description' tag (which itunes does not read) to a Google Drive URL which is a web page with an embedded player - this won't work. You must provide a direct link to the media file, and if you enter the URL in a browser it must play directly in a browser and not download or appear in an embedded player. And you need to find another server to host your media files - Google Drive has caused nothing but trouble and I'm not sure anyone has got it to work for podcasting.

As to the image, the URL in your 'itunes:image' tag leads to an image which is 320 x 320 px so as you can see it doesn't fulfil the requirements.

You may find it helpful to read my 'get you started' page on podcasting: http://wilmut.uk/pc - I'm afraid at the moment what you have is completely unviable.

Thank you for your help Roger (and the link).

I have gone through and seem to have sorted out the feed - audio files.

However I am still struggling with the image. I have used Pixr.com to create a simple image that should be 1400x1400, so I am not sure why the image is resulting in an error message.

    Could you advise?

    Thank you

The image is still 320 x 320 px. If you've been submitting a 1400 x 1400 px image to Blogger it may be reducing it, but I don't know why it should be.

The URLs of both the media files and the image begin with https, and though this may be OK it would be preferable, if possible, to use http instead - the URLs still work with this.
