Q: iMac G5 1.8Ghz RAM - 1GB PC3200 vs 2GB PC2700

Hi,

 

I have iMac G5, 1.8Ghz 17", running Mac OS X 10.5.

 

I found two RAM types I have. I can either put in two 512MB PC3200 sticks for total of 1GB of RAM. Or put in two 1GB PC2700 sticks for total of 2GB of RAM.

 

So, it's a trade off between slightly slow RAM but larger, vs faster RAM, but small RAM...

 

Thoughts?  Currently I have in the 2GB and it runs fine...  Or should I put back PC3200 to make it down to 1GB?

    Both the 2004 and 2005 iMac 1.8 GHz (17") models are supposed to use PC-3200 DDR memory.  If you haven't experienced strange glitches caused by the slower PC-2700 memory, it may have quality chips (like Micron) that are stable enough to run at the faster speed.  If the system becomes unstable, switch to the PC-3200.
