"The installer automatically verifies the files in the package. If any file has an issue, installation stops without changes to your system, and you'll see a message that the installer encountered an error."

For some reason "Contents->SharedSupport->OSInstall.mpkg" doesn't offer a way to see the certificate as described in the article. However, by mounting "InstallESD.dmg" I was able to check the individual installer packages just fine.

Jun 13, 2016 9:33 PM in response to Esquaredby pschastain,Actually, I my initial response was wrong. The Mavericks installer doesn't show verification, I was looking at Yosemite. So I'm back to needing md5 and sha1 checksums post-cert-change.
